AUGUST 5th... VOTE in the run-off election!

There will be only ONE item on our ballots August 5th, and that is our selection for Senate candidate. Our choices are Jim Martin and Vernon Jones. One of them will be our candidate to oppose Saxby do-anything-GeorgeWBush-says Chambliss.

Jim Martin ran for Lt Governor alongside Mark Taylor in 2006; during which time, many of us had the pleasure of meeting him. Vernon Jones has been all over the news lately after he admitted voting twice for Bush. We, as an organization, cannot endorse either candidate until after the run-off, but I think our choice is clear. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about this run-off election: chefbeth123@cox.net.
Mark your calendars and VOTE on August 5th!

Howard Dean brings message of CHANGE to Macon!

Saturday, July 26th, Macon was blessed with the presence of DNC Chair Howard Dean. He first spoke at a fundraising luncheon to die-hard Dems, in support of the Obama Victory Fund. He then opened the DPG's State Executive Committee meeting with his words of wisdom and how we can CHANGE this country by electing Barack Obama as President. (pictured here with DuBose Porter introducing him) Dean's message stated that our next President has two very important jobs:

      1. Heal this nation. Far more important than being a Democrat or a Republican, is to be an American. We need to end the divisiveness of the past and come together.

      2. Restore our moral standing in the world. America has to work with other nations to accomplish large-scale goals and tackle global problems. We cannot stand alone.

Dean made reference to Obama's trip abroad of last week, and highlighted the fact that Obama was greeted by THOUSANDS of people, all waving American flags (Germany). There is not one Republican, especially not our President, who could earn that sort of greeting in Europe! The whole rest of the world is ready for this change!

Dean stressed that we have but ONE job to do to get Obama elected, and that is to REGISTER 1/2 MILLION Georgians to vote. There are 600,000 unregistered African Americans, countless unregistered people under age 25.... who have given up or just not cared enough to vote. IT'S TIME for them to care and time for them to vote. So... if you want to know what YOU can do to help... and when others ask what THEY can do to help... there is but ONE answer. Help register people to vote! Volunteer in our Voter Education events in August and September. Contact Kristina Simms for dates and details: ktina72@windstream.net. We can talk about change, we can want change, we can put up all the signs and stickers we have... but if Democrats and progressive thinkers don't SHOW UP at the polls to VOTE... nothing will change.
DPG Chairwoman, Jane Kidd quoted a friend who predicted that there will be a Democratic tsunami in November... only this storm will have NO victims! I too think we will see a landslide... as more Democrats then ever before in history are going to turn out to vote on November 4th. Over 97,000 MORE Democrats than Republicans voted in our July Primary, and that's just the tip of the iceburg. Goodbye to Saxby Chambliss.... goodbye to Jack Kingston... and GOODBYE to W! Pledge to do whatever you can do to insure a Democratic VICTORY in November!

NEW MEETING TIME for September & beyond

MIDDLE GA DEMOCRATIC WOMEN'S CLUB... new meeting time will be 10am

There will be no regular meeting in August, as the 16th is our International Tasting Party!! Please join us at 7pm at the Centerville City Hall Community Room on Church Street for a fun evening of festive foods from around the globe, entertainment by musicians and dancers, door prizes and raffles.... it's just a grand time for only $15 per person. (scroll down a couple posts for all the details and the phone numbers to call for tickets).
Our next regular meeting is Saturday, September 20th, at 10am at Chef Audrey's Bistro & Cafe. She is located on Watson Blvd in the WalMart Shopping center in Warner Robins, between Staples and Petsmart. Our attendance is growing wonderfully... lots of new faces and LOTS of ENTHUSIASM!
With our growing numbers, it is vital that I be able to give Audrey an accurate headcount for our brunch. PLEASE RSVP to me no later than the Thursday evening prior to the Saturday meeting. (So RSVP by Sept 18th for our Sept 20th meeting).
      • call or email me and tell me that you are coming... and...
      • let me know if you will be EATING. ($8 per person for the brunch) 479/953-1933 or chefbeth123@cox.net
      • I appreciate your help on this! We need to be as accurate as possible!

This is an extremely exciting time to be a Georgia Democrat! Over 91,000 MORE DEMOCRATS than Republicans voted in the July 15th Primary, so our candidates are poised to WIN! I anticipate that we'll pick up at least three General Assembly House seats and a US Senate seat. It's time for ole Saxby to go home! In that race alone, nearly 4,000 more Democrats than Republicans voted.

VOTE ON AUGUST 5th in the Run-Off election between Vernon Jones and Jim Martin for our Senate candidate. Now... I can't endorse anyone in particular... and of course I have my favorite. Just PLEASE, PLEASE do your homework (or contact me personally)... because one of these two men voted for George W. Bush for President... TWICE. That gentleman can hardly call himself a Democrat. If you don't know which one he is, I will gladly tell you. There was a Senate candidate debate a few weeks ago in Atlanta, and this particular candidate admitted that he twice voted for W.

LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD... spread the word that there are LOTS of DEMOCRATS in Middle GA. Don't be shy about your stances on the issues. Only when we don't speak up can the other side assume that everyone thinks as they think. When we stop them in their tracks when they're telling distasteful jokes, or spinning our candidates' positions, we STOP the myth that Georgia Democrats are meek. We are STRONG and we outnumber them. BE SEEN, BE HEARD, and BE PRESENT. See you on August 16th, and again on September 20th.
